Audio transients modeling by damped & delayed sinusoids (DDS)

چکیده
In this paper, we present a novel parametric model based on an important evolution of McAulay & Quatieri sinusoidal models [5]. This model takes into account a damping factor as well as a delay parameter which makes it more efficient for modeling strong audio transients such as castanets onsets without pre-echo effects. We also develop an original algorithm to estimate the model parameters by means of a high resolution method followed by a sub-band analysis.

Efficient Parametric Modeling for Audio Transients
In this work, we present an evolution of the DDS (Damped & Delayed Sinusoidal) model introduced within the framework of the general signal modeling. This model is named Partial Damped & Delayed Sinusoidal (PDDS) model and takes into account a single time delay parameter for a set of (un)damped sinusoids. This modification is more consistent with the transient audio modeling problem. Then, we de...

The Damped and Delayed Sinusoidal (DDS) model is suitable for modeling compactly short time events (as the audio transient for instance). This property is closely related to its ability to reduce the time-support of each sinusoidal component. In this work, we derive an analytical and numerical conditional CRB for this model. In particular, we show that this model has, in general and at least, s...
متن کاملModifying transients for efficient coding of audio
In this paper, we propose a method for eÆcient representation of transients in audio signals. We estimate the transient component of an original audio signal and modify the locations of the transients in such a way that the transients can occur only at locations de ned by a relatively coarse time grid. This procedure allows an eÆcient representation of transients with damped sinusoids. We also ...
متن کاملImproved Modeling of Audio Signals by Modifying Transient Locations
We propose a method for obtaining an improved representation of transients in audio signals. The representation is based on a damped sinusoidal model. To improve the representation, transient locations are modified in such a way that a transient can start only at the beginning of a sinusoidal segment. The introduced modifications facilitate a reduction of the number of damped sinusoids needed t...
متن کاملPerceptual audio modeling with exponentially damped sinusoids
This paper presents the derivation of a new perceptual model that represents speech and audio signals by a sum of exponentially damped sinusoids. Compared to a traditional sinusoidal model, the exponential sinusoidal model (ESM) is better suited to model transient segments that are readily found in audio signals. Total least squares (TLS) algorithms are applied for the automatic extraction of t...
